Newbie Night
Newbie Night will, for the moment being, occur every Monday night between 7pm and 9pm server time (GMT). During these hours, high level members are asked to try and make themselves available as much as possible to assist other people in the guild. This can be anything from group quests, epic books or anything else that would help the lower level members to progress. The idea is to mix having a good time with progress, so please don't ask for instance boosts in horrible places
I'd strongly advice to work on things that take a little more time, since finding help for really quick quests can be done most nights.
The Goals
- Enable lower level members to participate in group activities more frequently.
- Have a dedicated slot to tackle those hard group quests.
- Help people to make progress in a more enjoyable manner.
Some Advantages
- Reduce some of the pressure on higher level members with a dedicated slot for help on things which require a bit of time.
- Higher level members can tag along with alts if their main isn't -needed-, thus making progress too.
- Helping people with epic book quests (after book 4) which you have already done, rewards you with a token which can be exchanged for various rewards! (Smart design lotro!)
- People who can't find help on something specific, know that next Monday -someone- will be available to help! Hopefully this will remove some frustration people might have from time to time.
Some things to keep in mind
- There are only so many people available to provide help, and sometimes there might be more help requests than people who can provide the help. Try to tag along with another group, so they finish quicker and can help you afterwards!
- Additional to above, this way we can try 'split' help a little between people. It wont always be easy with some things taking ages.
- Remember some things are better left skipped- take the advice of high level members on this. Dol Dinen for example isn't worth it unless you have a full group with mostly people who need it. It's an example of something that takes very long to complete and the effort vs. reward is totally not worth it.
- No single gear drop is worth effort while levelling. They all become obsolete very quickly so don't worry until you are level 50+. Focus on XP and Epic Book progress!
- Grinding for virtues is best done the other way around: Rather than asking a high level member look for members who are grinding for themselves and ask if you can tag along. Even if you don't finish, you rack up some kill counts which saves you time later! (The newbie night isn't really intended for virtue grinding) With a few exceptions most of the virtue grinding is best done once you are 60, unless a chance such as above presents itself.
- Try to have fun!
- We all have lives, both low and high level members and not everyone can be around every Monday night, nor should they have to be. It's an initiative we fully support and ask people to contribute to, but nobody can be forced. We do however ask people to think of the guild progress as a whole and not selfishly go do an instance or something else during these 2 hours. If you are online, at least see if anyone could use some help. If not- enjoy yourself as per usual!
For low level members this means, don't come online at 8pm and demand "where is everyone to give help". If nobody needed help before, it's likely people started doing something else, so give them time to round up what they are doing! - Think of our motto: Common sense above everything! Well that isn't actually our motto, but it's still a pretty good rule of thumb

The first Newbie Night will be held on Monday, August 31st. Meanwhile, don't hesitate to ask for help but be polite and understanding! Even at 60, there are many, many things to sort out before we are raid-ready! For the high levels the same applies, lend a hand here and there when you have a spare moment. It benefits us all in the long run!
