I've just finished implementing this and I am really quite excited - this is one of the [b:d6928aacdb]coolest [/b:d6928aacdb]things we have on our forums and portal so far.

Without further ado - you can now use a BBCode tag to insert any item from World of Warcraft in the forums as a link, like it is done in-game. Exactly like this: [item]31288[/item]

You can even use a tag to display the icon of said item, exactly like in-game like this: [itemico]31288[/itemico]

Pretty cool huh?

It's pretty easy too, all you need is either the official ID of the item, or even simpler for those with this knowledge, the items [b:d6928aacdb]correct [/b:d6928aacdb]name.

So to get my examples used above you would use for the link:
[code:1:d6928aacdb][item]The Master's Treads[/item][/code:1:d6928aacdb]
or
[code:1:d6928aacdb][item]31288[/item][/code:1:d6928aacdb]

And for the icon version:
[code:1:d6928aacdb][itemico]The Master's Treads[/itemico][/code:1:d6928aacdb]
or
[code:1:d6928aacdb][itemico]31288[/itemico][/code:1:d6928aacdb]

What is the easiest way to find an itemnumber?

I will take some time somewhere next week to implement an "addon and mods" forum, where file attachments/uploads to the NNM server are possible - so that we can start sharing mods and descriptions easily.

In the mean time, for your convenience i have uploaded a simple mod which gives you the ItemID of items in-game. (You can also look an item up at Allakazam to get the ItemID)

As with any addon, unzip and put in your interface/addons folder of World of Warcraft.
Enable the addon for your character(s) to use it.
