Guild Instances, Scheduling, Tanks, Healers

Hi All,

Just to give you guys both an update and to make a request.

[b:43b2c6c828][u:43b2c6c828]Progress[/u:43b2c6c828][/b:43b2c6c828]
The guild has made fantastic progress over the past weeks, I am immensely proud and am enjoying seeing the efforts people are making every day. People are getting leveled, getting geared and instance runs are going smoother each time. Really, well done everybody and keep this up!

We now have enough people with a key to Shadowlabs, so this aint a problem anymore. We have four people on the quest to get the Arcatraz key, this shouldn't be a problem either for the rest of the guild as those + the rogues can open the door.

We also have almost everybody with the right level done with Durnholde, and with access to Black Morass. The ones who haven't done Durnholde yet and are the right level can be sorted out during guild runs coming weekend(s) - don't worry everybody will be helped. If you are a bit behind please don't worry about it, we will help ALL guild members with the instances required to get the Karazhan key.

There have been a lot of these recently, which is great as the guild as a whole get more experienced and geared. I would like to create more awareness for the level of intensity though - I tanked at least 20 instances this weekend and am absolutely knackered :) I'm going to try to tank *at least* 2 scheduled runs in a weekend (fri-sunday) every week, and 1 on Tuesday nights (am usually available).
Beyond this I try to tank instances I actually need myself too, do quests and generally enjoy myself. If I aint up for tanking an instance when you ask please don't think I don't like you or that you are being left out - I only have so much time in a week and need to make progress myself too! For the guild runs themselves we try to rotate people as much as possible and currently I am basing runs on what people need in terms of keys, Karazhan entry, reputation and gear.
Please note certain instances require a certain group set-up which means we need more runs to give everybody a chance. We wont leave anyone out.

This leads me to...

[b:43b2c6c828][u:43b2c6c828]Tanks and Healers[/u:43b2c6c828][/b:43b2c6c828]
Everybody in the guild is aware of the level of tanks and healers we have. The situation is however not as bad as it looks and we have a solution really close at hand. James (Bearheart/Momar) is very close to reaching outlands now on his warrior, and Neill (Alratan) is going for a resto spec on his druid. He also made tremendous progress and it wont take too long before he reaches outlands as well.
Obviously when we have 2 tanks available in the guild, things will change dramatically in terms of the amount of runs and people we can take in runs. We should be able to run 2 groups simultaneously during weekends for example. Ditto for Healers, we have some spares besides for Richard but they are not guilded so it would be nice solving things in-guild.

To this end I would like to request people to lend a hand to James and Neill when and where required. When they hit 58 we should run them through instances to level 60, this only takes a few runs and goes immensely fast with level 70 characters. The quicker we can get them leveled and geared, the quicker the guild as a whole can benefit from their presence. Once we are able to form 2 groups and can run guild instances also on nights I am not available (or Richard), everybody will make more progress!

[b:43b2c6c828][u:43b2c6c828]Instance Scheduling[/u:43b2c6c828][/b:43b2c6c828]
All officers have access to create events on the calendar & I encourage them to do so. Since it looks like James and I are going to be the 2 main tanks of the guild at the moment, I suggest we schedule the planned guild runs, since they require the presence of a tank and this will be the class we will have the lowest quantity off. We will end up with a roughly 1:2 ratio between tanks and healers as main classes so we generally will have healers available. I am on purpose 'only' going to schedule 3 guild events a week, to put less strain on myself and the guild and to leave plenty of room for "spontaneous" instances. I will in 95% of the case run instances with guildies only, and if those are not available with iO - since I know all of them very well. I always try to avoid outsiders as I hate random groups & want gear to go to our guild.

[b:43b2c6c828][u:43b2c6c828]Recruitment[/u:43b2c6c828][/b:43b2c6c828]
As we are getting better and better, we are getting more requests for people to join the guild. I would really like to get a bit stricter on this - we have a trial process for a reason and we should not be afraid to fail people on their trial if we are not 100% confident that they will make a positive long-term contribution to the guild. I would like all recruitment to go through the official process of writing a forum application - getting a trial of at the very least 2 weeks - and a voting process by officers in which member opinions are strongly regarded. I believe we are a fantastic group with fantastic people and having just 1 person in this who doesn't fit into the group can cause major issues. We don't want to end up with people who are just with us to get geared and then leave either, we want people who stick with us long-term to tackle high-end content!

As far as recruitment goes we don't have a recruitment officer anymore and we need somebody immensely serious about this - preferably very active, a bit older then the rest and with a good feel for what the guild needs. I'm leaving this position open for a while and think everybody can contribute and point people to the recruitment forums but eventually I would like somebody to be responsible for this (again.)

This post is long enough as it is and there is a lot to think about again :-) Hope this clears some things up and that people give it their best to get our 'new' tank & healer up and running.
