In order to run the guild efficiently through high-end content we need to be fairly organised, with some people taking responsibility of organising certain aspects of the guild. Running a succesful high-end WoW Guild is simply not a one-man effort and I recognise that certain duties need to be delegated. Please feel free to disagree with me or voice your opinion/concern but personally I feel such roles should go to mature, knowledgeable people with a high attendance rate/availability, and for those with raid/instance specific leading duties: extremely clear English. This is of course not a criticism to anyone, but during a raid we can't afford misunderstandings.
As I can see it currently, we would need: (Obviously some duties can/will overlap)
[b:da72707c3c]Main Tank 1 & 2[/b:da72707c3c] - A raiding guild needs 2 tanks who receive the bulk of the first batch of tanking gear. The better geared the tank(s), the easier most encounters are for the healers. This might sound unfair or harsh for guilds with more tanks, but it is common sense. It doesn't take longer then a few runs before these tanks have their gear and the "off-tanks" receive the exact same gear anyway. Tanks are also the smallest class in any guild, so there is less need for this gear, it becomes the gear that is disenchant the soonest in most cases.
[b:da72707c3c]Raid Leader(s)[/b:da72707c3c] - A raid leader has to coordinate a raid in terms of set-up (which people should go to get a balanced group), target assignment, tactics, explanations, etc. This should *always* be an officer as this person is also responsible for Epic loot distribution and ensuring everything is done fairly. For Epic loot, we will have a system where everybody passes on the item regardless of what it is. The Raid leader will then look at the items one-by-one and tell the raid which classes can roll on it. Ninja'ing Epics or rolling by accident is absolutely disastrous and causes a huge loss to the guild as a whole!
We most likely have 2 raid leaders. Since we wont have more then 1 raid group for quite a while this will normally be the same person, with somebody else training/acting as reserve. Eventually if we get ready for 25-mans, we will have enough people for 2 simultaneous 10-mans which need we will need 2 raid leaders.
Raid leaders are expected to know tactics of each boss-fight and stay up-to-date on them.
[b:da72707c3c]Healing Class Leader[/b:da72707c3c] - During raids somebody has to coordinate healers, assign healers to certain duties, keep track of the gear of all healers and possibly tell them what gear should go to whom in order to make the most out of the healer-pool, etc. This is an important duty and requires somebody with clear english and a strong grasp of the game, gear and tactics. It requires a lot of reading up on tactics and such, much like the raid leader(s). The Raid leader should barely have to get involved when it comes to healing coordination, and the raid leader and healing class leader together should be able to work out any boss-fight's organisation. Note that this should (in my eyes) be somebody playing a Healer as main class!
[b:da72707c3c]Class Leaders[/b:da72707c3c] - If (read when) we grow big enough to do 25-man raids we will have several people in each class. At this point, each class will get 1 assigned class leader who's duty it will be to keep track of the gear, specs and balance of their class and report potential overcrowding or needs for additional people to the recruitment officer. The Healing class leader would be a class leader by default.
[b:da72707c3c]Recruitment Officer[/b:da72707c3c] - We need somebody who takes on the responsibility of - in a rather serious manner - ensuring we have enough people for the activities we are trying to deal with. This includes keeping the recruitment procedure up-to-date, handling and processing applications, keeping track of trialists, organising meetings to vote on a trialist, the full works.
Suggestions for these positions, feedback, etc really appreciated guys (and girl(s) )
